Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne EPFL (Founder)

The Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne is one of two federal technology institutes in Switzerland and one of the best scientific schools in Europe. Located on the banks of Lake Geneva, its main campus brings together more than 13,000 people: students, researchers and employees, all of whom are attracted by the school's infrastructure, reputation and innovative and cosmopolitan nature.

The EPFL has a long-standing relationship with the Bertarelli Foundation, which funds three of the chairs at its Centre for Neuroprosthetics. The mission of this centre, which is making constant progress in the areas of biotechnology, microelectronics and nerve implants, and making unprecedented advances in our understanding of the brain and spinal cord, is to define and establish a wholly interdisciplinary study platform, which combines neuroscience with engineering and medicine, and effectively transposes major advances in the areas of bioengineering and neuroscience into viable clinical applications.
