The Facility is supervised by Profs D. Bavelier (UNIGE/FPSE), S. Micera and A. Mathis (EPFL). It is composed by a team of engineers: M. Dubessy, A. Provost, M. Lacour and N. Attia.

The Virtual Reality & Robotics Facility (https://hnp.fcbg.ch/home/virtual-reality/ ) at Campus Biotech is composed of highly innovative equipment and a team of engineers allowing researchers to develop and conduct experiments in virtual reality and/or robotics.

  • Behavioral experiment in virtual life-like immersive environments, coupled to neural recordings and/or stimulation
  • Projects involving upper and lower limb robots for rehabilitation, cognitive motor neuroscience, fMRI and VR integration.

The team makes knowledge and expertise in the VR field accessible to all users at Campus Biotech and beyond. They provide support for the development of 3D (mainly focus on VR but not only) content and scenarios, in collaboration with the users (mainly from academia research).

The facility is composed of several equipment set-ups, in order to accommodate a wide range of user needs, such as immersive display systems (Video projectors and Head Monted Displays), full-body motion tracking either optical or inertial, spatialized sound, synchronization with external equipment, as well as virtual content generation tools and real-time 3D animation software (avatars, scenes, volumetric rendering, etc.).

The VR and Robotic set-ups are designed to interface with other equipment from the other Human Neuroscience facilities, such as neural or psychophysiology recording or stimulation systems (EEG, EMG, TMS, fMRI).

A continuously growing library of developed software and technical set-ups is available, allowing faster developments of new experiments as well as on-need demos.

Co-development with research laboratories is also possible for promising and innovative projects which developments could benefit to the entire community.
