The Technical Project Leader - Epios project will lead the medical device development and R&D activities of the Epios project, towards successful pivotal clinical trials and translation of the solution to the clinic/market. The individual will report directly to the Wyss Center’s Chief Technology Officer. In the future, the individual will have the unique opportunity to join the Epios start-up with a key role.

Job Description

  • Lead the Epios project team and related R&D activities at the Wyss Center, including the development, verification, and validation of the Epios medical device system towards successful clinical trials
  • Lead technical and project operations such as product roadmap and innovation, testing plans, grant submissions, contract negotiations, financial tracking etc
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, clinicians, faculty, entrepreneurs, and industry to leverage and integrate various disciplines and capabilities to the Epios project 
  • Effectively manage external collaborators and suppliers involved in the Epios project
  • Build and maintain technical documentation for Epios devices and/or software 
  • Work closely with the quality and regulatory affairs team at the Wyss Center to define regulatory strategy, identify applicable standards and assess the impact of new standards on the Epios project
  • Work closely with the Center’s clinical team to coordinate planning and successful execution of the Epios clinical trials
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders at the Center to address operational challenges and reach strategic decisions
  • Participate and present Epios at internal and external events, conferences, and seminars
  • Beyond the immediate Epios project responsibilities, the successful candidate will be an active member of the Wyss Center community, contributing intellectually to other projects and initiatives at the Center, providing mentorship and vision to colleagues around the organization

Required profile

Required competence and experience:

  • MSc or PhD in Engineering, Neuroengineering or related discipline with at least 5 to 10 years of work experience in an industrial setting or experience in translational, academic-industrial partnerships
  • Experience with medical devices with an electrophysiological aspect is a must
  • Experience with neurotechnologies is a plus (neurosensing/neuromodulation) 
  • Experience in technical project management, with a focus on delivering results while meeting budgets and timelines
  • Proven technical leadership skills, and ability to coordinate the activities of a multidisciplinary team 
  • Experience in design and development of medical devices, including verification and validation activities
  • Experience with risk management process, familiarity with tools such as FMEA 
  • Experience with ISO 13485, with European regulations (e.g. MDR), and FDA regulations and guidance 
  • Familiarity with Class III medical device development is a plus
  • Ability to build and maintain the technical documentation of a medical device system
  • Strong English communication, written and spoken; French is a plus
  • Open-minded team player, creative, with a positive mindset

  • Up to 20% travel expected (post Covid)
