Prof. Laurence Toutous Trellu, Prof. Alexandre Wenger, Dr. Christophe Lamy, and the entire ArchiMed research group (affiliated with the University of Geneva and HUG) are pleased to welcome Dr. Mathew Beale from the Wellcome Sanger Institute (London) and Dr. Giulia Bommarito from the Leenaards Memory Center, CHUV (Lausanne) as part of the 2026 ArchiMed workshop.

Microbiologist Mathew Beale (PhD) leads a research program aimed at characterizing the global diversity and spread dynamics of several sexually transmitted infections, particularly Treponema pallidum, the agent responsible for syphilis. His expertise includes large-scale genomics, metagenomics, and phylogenomics, which shed light on the evolution of pathogens and their epidemiology.
Neurologist Giulia Bommarito (MD) completed her clinical training at the University of Padua and the University of Genoa in Italy. She developed her research skills in the field of neuroimaging and neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative disorders at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and at EPFL-UniGe in Geneva. She currently holds the position of senior physician at the Leenaards Memory Center, CHUV.
