Clinical & Sleep Research platform

The aim of the Clinical and Sleep Research platform is first to perform clinical and cognitive assessments of patients and healthy subjects.

Six quiet and pleasant interview rooms are dedicated to these assessments. A battery of neurological psychological tests frequently used is available for children and adults. Two rooms are equipped with six synchronised cameras, each used to film the movements of the facial expressions of the participants and to characterise psychiatric or neurological disorders. Finally, a nurse/TSM technician is present on site for medical assistance if needed and to perform blood sampling.

A second major axis of the platform is enabling research on sleep. The platform contains three rooms each fitted with a comfortable bed. A control rooms allows us to remotely monitor EEG signal and video control during sleep. Sleep stages can be recorded with several EEG systems (for low density and single electrodes to portable device or high density EEG system). The sleep lab is equipped to welcome patients comfortably before and after the night (bathrooms, kitchen, relaxing area).

The third axis of the platform is to prepare and to analyse biological human (blood or salivary) samples to extract genetic or biomarker parameters. The team of the platform advises researchers and designs experimental protocols to incorporate easily these analyses into their project. The platform manages dataflow and all financial aspects (quotes and links between existing local services). We also propose a service of interpretation and discussion of the obtained results with researchers together with multimodal integration of other measures (fMRI, EEG, NIRS, TMS).

Equipment

Sleep: three comfortable rooms equipped to perform polysomnography during sleep (compatible with Vamp, Brain Amp, ANT neuro, EGI) + possibility to record physiological parameters such as breathing, skin conductance and heart rate. Air extractors keep the room comfortable and everything is viewed and recorded via remote video control.

Clinical: six individual interview rooms with a computer, bookable for a few hours or longer periods if required.

Equipped to monitor clinically ambulatory patients, including automated hospital beds, a tensiometer, a resuscitation trolley and a wheelchair.

Neurological and psychological tests. For children: ADOS, ADI-R, WISC-IV, WPPSI-IV, RAVEN. For motor assessment: ARAT, 9-Hole-Peg test, Purdue pegboard test, Box and Blocks test and Jamar hand evaluation dynamometer.

Biomarkers: a medical assistant is present on site to take blood-samples in a dedicated space close to the MRI and EEG facilities. Another room is dedicated to sample preparation and analysis equipped with all the necessary laboratory material (centrifuge, dropper, bench, extractor hood, etc). Several methods are available, like standard ELISA analyses, but also sample preparation before other analysis.
