Public kick-off of the 2nd phase of the NCCR Evolving Language
Dear all,
We are pleased to invite you to the public presentation of the 2nd phase of the National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) Evolving Language, which will take place at Campus Biotech, room H8-01-D on November 12, 2024 from 5pm to 6pm. You can also follow the presentation live on the NCCR YouTube channel.
Founded in 2020, the NCCR Evolving Language aims to study the evolution of language more broadly than any other research center to date. To achieve this, it promotes interdisciplinary research, combining the humanities, biology, neuroscience, psychology and computational sciences.
This meeting will offer a retrospective of the first phase of the NCCR and present the research challenges ahead: how did our species develop the capacity for linguistic expression and the constant transmission of new variations to the next generation? How will our linguistic capacity evolve in the face of digital communication and neuro-engineering?
The session will begin with official speeches by representatives of the rectorates of the parent institutions, followed by a presentation of the NCCR in English by the directors of our consortium. For those staying on site, the event will be followed by a question-and-answer session and a convivial aperitif.
We look forward to welcoming you to this event, both in person and online. For further information and free registration, please visit this page or contact contact@evolvinglanguage.ch.
Best regards,
NCCR Evolving Language Team
