The Wyss Center for bio and neuroengineering
The Wyss Center is an independent, not-for-profit research and development organization dedicated to advancing neurotechnology to improve the lives of people with neurological and mental health disorders. Located at Campus Biotech in Geneva, Switzerland, the Center pioneers breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, bioengineering, and neuroengineering to restore essential neural functions and deliver precision therapies.
Founded in 2014 with the support of Swiss entrepreneur and philanthropist Hansjörg Wyss, the Wyss Center focuses on translational research and development, bridging the gap between scientific discovery and real-world applications. By de-risking emerging neurotechnologies, the Center accelerates their path to clinical and commercial viability, working closely with start-ups, academic institutions, and industry partners to maximize impact.
As part of this mission, the Wyss Center co-leads the Campus Biotech Lighthouse Partnership for AI-Guided Neuromodulation, a pioneering initiative launched in January 2024. This collaboration brings together over 60 scientists, engineers, and clinicians from leading institutions—including the Neuro X Institute of EPFL, the Synapsy Centre for Neuroscience and Mental Health Research at UNIGE, Geneva University Hospitals, and Lausanne University Hospital—to accelerate the development of novel AI-driven neurotechnologies. By harnessing the interdisciplinary excellence of the Lemanic Region, the initiative is driving next-generation therapies for neurological and mental health disorders.
