Theoretical neuroscience has experienced explosive growth over the past 20 years. It brought new researchers into the field with different backgrounds (biology, psychology, physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering etc.) and led to the development of training programs in neuroscience all over the world and to an increasing number of students in neuroscience. Additionally, these theoretical approaches have helped to introduce new ideas and shape directions of neuroscience applications. We regularly hear about the use of neuroscience in many new fields: data management, education, neuro-finance and neuro-marketing, artificial intelligence, health innovation etc.

On request of our Master students in Neuroscience, we propose this first discussion about the current possible careers in neuroscience with different testimonies followed by open discussions. What and where are the current needs in neuroscientists? What to do with a Master’s/PhD degree in Neuroscience?
