Marie Schaer is a physician and assistant professor at the Department of Psychiatry of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva. She completed her medical studies in Geneva in 2005, followed by a PhD in neurosciences in the field of brain imaging. She then completed her clinical training in child psychiatry, mainly at the Medical-Pedagogical Office of Geneva, but also in adult psychiatry with young adults with psychotic disorders, and in neurology at the University Hospital of Zurich. Between 2013 and 2016, Marie Schaer joined Stanford University (Palo Alto, California) to specialize in brain imaging of autism, and began working closely with the MIND Institute at UC Davis (Sacramento, California). Since 2016, Marie Schaer has been the doctor in charge of the Specialized Autism Counseling Center and the Centre for Early Intervention in Autism, in parallel with her mandate as SNSF Scholar Professor during which she continues her research on brain development in young children with an autism spectrum disorder.
