Auditory, Speech and Language Neuroscience Lab
The team
The team working under Professor Anne-Lise Giraud (UNIGE) is trying to understand the brain processes that make it possible to transform acoustic information from speech into mental images, how these processes are altered in linguistic development disorders, and how it is possible to intervene in these processes to restore normal functioning, for example in dyslexia, perceptive disorders in autism, hearing rehabilitation through a cochlear implant. The team is also endeavoring to correct the issue of encoding speech sounds in dyslexia using novel neuroengineering brain stimulation methods (transcranial electrical and acoustic stimulations, neurofeedback), and to rehabilitate aphasia using innovative neural decoding algorithms.
The lab is part of the NCCR Evolving Language.
